"The American sculptor Bo Allison (1952, Washington, Pa, USA) uses a rather constructivist approach to sculpture, not in the least related, at least intentionally, to the historical movement of constructivism. However, in the case of the "frames" or "windows" which he has made his artistic trademark, he equally emphasises form over substance. These abstract open frames are often intentionally distorted, breaking with tradition and changing the course of sculpture, seductively combining monumental architecture and poetic fantasy. Bo Allison had also created horizontal sculptures combining soft curves with a careful treatment of spatial relationships. This work exhibits the sensuality and feeling of a palpable internal geometry together with a great sensitivity to the material.
While this exposition includes some older pieces, it centers around a recent composition of eight identical sculptures of various materials. "Blue Dream" reduces the theme of the empty frame to its simplest expression. The strict purity of the objects and its structure lends itself to the diversity of materials.
The colors and textures contrast with the almost technical rigor of the frame forming a disconcerting whole. We prefer the bronze sculpture in three parts that discards the idea of the frame and uses only basic geometric forms. This magnificent piece draws its magic from the perfect balance between the eloquent monumental simplicity of the lines and the sensual and tactile density created by the lost wax process."
