The connotations of the word Nimbus are varied. In Greek mythology it was the aura surrounding the gods while they walked the earth to the gold leaf around the heads of the holy family in religious paintings to the every day rain - thunder clouds to mist and fog to anything that is fuzzy or hazy seen through a telescope which can not be focused properly. Truthfully I don't know where the Nimbus drawings came from. They had there own natural development and I just sort of followed along and the word Nimbus seemed nebulous enough.
